The Ugly Duckling Story
Just like the children’s tale about The Ugly Duckling, our story is all about the re-birthing of a little known hotel hidden away in the heart of Sanur Beach. Formerly the “Puri Made Hotel” (see Trip Advisor comments here) the hotel was taken over by its new owners in February 2010 and straight away they began the transformation of the Hotel, Restaurant and Bar which will all undergo a gradual facelift over the next twelve months.
Our new owners have committed themselves to revamp this quant little hotel which is targeted at the budget end of the market. Our owners previous experience in operating restaurants in Australia will certainly come in handy here also, likewise the experience gained in operating the very popular and successful “Sanur Beach Villas” (aka Mangrove Beach Sanctuary Villas) at Mertasari Beach (on Sanur’s southern end) will ensure that the hotel operation runs smoothly. From February 2010, both The Ugly Duckling Hotel and the Sanur Beach Villas will be marketed under the “Sanur Beach Villas Group” umbrella.
Centrally located in Sanur’s main street (Jalan Danau Tamblingan) The Ugly Duckling Hotel rubs shoulders with some of Sanur’s best hotels with the Gazebo Hotel opposite and right next door the luxury 5 star “Pavilions Resort”. As soon as you step out onto the street you are in the middle of all the action with shops, boutiques, restaurants and bars all within an easy stroll from our hotel.
Our restaurant, aptly named The Ducks Nutz Bar + Grill is open from breakfast till late nite and will tempt your taste buds with delicious meals ranging from local Balinese and traditional Indonesian and Asian dishes, to a choice of steaks and other specialties from our grill see our sample menu here (constantly changes). Our bar offers our lady patrons a range of exotic cocktails, wines and spirits and guys we are fast gaining a reputation for serving the coldest beer in Bali.
